Telling the Truth and Doing What’s Right

Students learn to tell the truth about a small mistake and name the value that made them choose honesty, identify ethical principles (honesty, fairness, care for others) as guides for decisions, take responsibility for a mistake without being prompted, and understand what fairness looks and feels like in concrete classroom situations.

Honesty & Doing What’s Right One week 3 skill segments 45–75 min across the week 6 standards

Lesson Overview

What students will be able to do after this lesson: Students will be able to tell the truth about a small mistake and name the value that led them to do so, identify the fair choice in a simple scenario and explain why it is fair rather than just rule-following, take responsibility for something they did using clear first-person language, respect the rights of classmates to their property, their turn, and kind treatment, and explain the difference between their own work and copied work — and why their own work is what counts.
