About this resource
Noticing others starts small: Grandpa’s sigh after his team loses. These free social awareness task cards turn 100 moments like that into short prompts, each asking students what someone else might feel or need, from a kindergartner who can’t press the water fountain button to a friend who laughs but seems far away. The set is free with a free account (no card needed), leveled for Grades 2–5, and grounded in Social Awareness, the CASEL competency of understanding others and caring about your community.
What students practice
- Working out why someone feels the way they do
- Seeing one event through another person’s eyes
- Reading faces, voices and the mood of a group
- Welcoming someone new into a team or club
- Asking respectful questions about other traditions
What’s inside
- 100 cards in two leveled sets: 50 for Grades 2–3 (Set A) and 50 for Grades 4–5 (Set B)
- Ten areas, five cards per set each: others’ feelings, points of view, kindness, gratitude, belonging, communities and fairness, how my actions affect others, social cues, cultures and caring for your community
- A one-page theme chart and layouts with 2 or 4 cards per page
- 100 reflection sheets in a separate file, numbered to match
- 81 task card pages; 103 reflection sheet pages
A look inside
- Set A: “The librarian puts a finger to her lips and raises her eyebrows at your table. What is her face telling your table? What could you do right away?”
- Set A: “A new kid joins your swim team and doesn’t know where to put their bag. What is it like to be new here? What could you show or tell them?”
- Set B: “Your chess club meets in a room with no sign, so new kids don’t know it exists. Who might be missing out? What could the club do to welcome them?”
How to use these social awareness task cards
- Morning meeting: read a social-cues card and have students show the face before they answer
- Counseling: the cards on being kind in a bad mood (B11–B15) suit a student having a rough week
- Writing: answer a gratitude card on its reflection sheet, naming one real person to thank
Grade fit
The Grades 2–3 cards (Set A) give clues students can see: a wobbling chin, a sigh, a bee bumping a window. The Grades 4–5 cards (Set B) ask about what is hidden, like a classmate fasting during snack time or a town that limits lawn watering in a dry summer.
Digital version
The interactive digital task cards share as one link: you choose Set A or Set B, and students type their answers on any device with no student logins. At the end they download an answer sheet to hand in.

Questions teachers ask
How is this different from the Empathy or Kindness task cards?
Those sets stay with one topic. This set spans ten areas of social awareness with ten cards on each, so it works as an overview or a starting point.
Do students need accounts for the digital version?
No. You share one link, and students open it on any device without logging in.
