About this resource

Students notice fairness fastest when it is missing, from who is picked last to who is left out. These fairness and inclusion stop think act cards meet them there with 20 scenarios for Grades 2–5 and a clear way to think each one through. The set builds Social Awareness, with Responsible Decision-Making close behind.

What students practice

  • Weighing what is fair for everyone involved
  • Considering who might feel left out
  • Choosing what is truly inclusive rather than just easy
  • Welcoming classmates who are different
  • Handling unfair moments in games and group work

What’s inside

  • 20 Stop Think Act cards in a full-page format, large enough for whole-class discussion or the projector
  • The same 20 cards in a 4-per-page format for small groups, partners and learning centers
  • 20 matching reflection sheets, one per scenario, each with five open-ended prompts on fair, kind choices that include others
  • 52 pages in all: 30 in the card file and 22 in the reflection sheet file

A look inside

  • “A classmate who doesn’t speak your language well wants to play with you. How can you include them?”
  • “Your group wins a class challenge, but one member didn’t help much. How do you handle it?”
  • “A friend wants to change the rules of a game to make it easier for them. How do you respond?”

How to use these fairness and inclusion stop think act cards

  • Morning meeting: one card on fairness, then a quick vote on what to do
  • Small groups, since students land on different answers and the why is where learning happens
  • SEL lessons and counseling groups addressing exclusion and peer dynamics
  • A class discussion after a real moment of exclusion
  • Reflection sheets that ask “How might someone feel left out or treated unfairly in this situation?”
  • Reflection sheets as stop and think worksheets, or as think before you act worksheets for independent practice

Grade fit

Picking teams, sharing jobs and deciding who joins a game are familiar from Grade 2 on, and the five-prompt sheets give older students room to explain their thinking. That fits Grades 2–5.

Digital version

The digital version shares as one link: students answer each card on any device, in the one-question or five-question format you pick, with no student logins. At the end they download an answer sheet to hand in.

Questions teachers ask

Why work in small groups?

Students often reach different answers on fairness, and talking through why they differ is where much of the learning happens.

Is a login needed for the digital version?

No. Students open your single shared link on any device.
