About this resource

How do you take a compliment without bragging, or a put-down without quitting? These self-esteem worksheets put Grades 2–5 in 180 everyday moments where that question comes up. Your students read each one, choose A, B or C and write why, building the Self-Awareness that confidence grows from: knowing their strengths and trying anyway.

What students practice

  • Noticing and naming their own strengths
  • Trying something new for the first time
  • Staying steady when someone else does better
  • Accepting praise with a simple thank-you
  • Feeling okay after criticism
  • Using a strength to help someone else

What’s inside

  • 30 printable worksheets, six scenarios on each
  • 180 multiple choice scenarios with options A, B and C and a “Why did you choose this option?” line
  • 4 teacher pages with a scenario discussion guide and differentiation ideas
  • 35 pages

A look inside

  • At the Playground: “Tess’s friend jumps rope with fancy crossovers, but Tess can’t yet. Tess should:” (A) Grab the rope away and say it’s not fair. (B) Clap for her, then do the skips she can do. (C) Clap for her and put her own rope away.
  • During Holidays, Zainab’s aunt praises the paper lantern she made. One choice thanks her and says she folded it herself, one thanks her but says the folds look a bit off, and one says it’s way better than her cousins’ lanterns.
  • Using Electronics: “Quentin knows the tablet well, and Grandpa can’t start a video call. Quentin can:”

How to use these self-esteem worksheets

  • Morning meeting: read Orrin’s half-lap swim scenario and ask the teacher page’s question about the difference between healthy pride, putting yourself down and bragging
  • Small groups: compare reasons on the comparison items, where the in-between choice often means quietly giving up
  • Independent reflection: one page makes a quiet SEL writing task
  • Older students: write their own scenario about a strength they have, as the differentiation page suggests

Grade fit

Many scenes are about making things (comics, clay animals, balloon animals, bead bracelets), which children in Grades 2–5 do all the time. Short sentences keep the reading light for second graders, especially read aloud, and the why line gives fifth graders room to explain the line between feeling proud and showing off.

Digital version

The interactive digital version shares as one link: students pick A, B or C and type their reason, or just pick if you choose the choices-only format, on any device with no student logins. At the end they download an answer sheet to hand in.

Pairs well with

For open-ended practice on the same theme, try Self-Esteem Scenario Cards. The Strengths and Growth Journal — Self-Esteem Activity Kit turns the strengths talk into a writing project.

Questions teachers ask

If there are no right or wrong answers, how do I discuss the choices?

The teacher pages keep the talk judgment-free, and the scoring note explains the pattern: owning a strength or a compliment and carrying on is strongest, brushing praise off or quietly giving up is weaker, and bragging or putting others down is the poor choice.

Can students use it on tablets?

Yes. The digital version opens from one link on any device, with no student logins.
