About this resource

Without a clear line between assertive and aggressive, students tend to stay silent or come on too strong. These assertiveness coloring pages show Grades 2–8 the middle path: say what you need, kindly and clearly. The set belongs to the Relationship Skills competency and covers both the inner part (believing your words have value) and the outer part (knowing how to say them). Use them as assertiveness affirmation coloring pages, or as SEL coloring pages with a reflection step.

What students practice

  • Speaking up respectfully
  • Disagreeing without being aggressive
  • Believing their words have value
  • Saying what they need clearly

What’s inside these assertiveness coloring pages

  • 20 assertiveness messages to color: 10 affirmation pages and 10 quote pages, each in portrait and landscape (40 pages)
  • The “Speaking Up with Confidence Check-In” reflection page with 8 questions and a page of tips
  • A 12-task assertiveness choice board: Reflect & Write, Draw & Create, Act & Practice, Connect & Share, in portrait and landscape
  • Classroom and counseling guides, a printing guide and a list of all 20 assertiveness messages; 56 pages in all

A look inside

  • Affirmations: “I use a strong, respectful voice.” “I can disagree respectfully.”
  • Quotes: “Assertive is not aggressive.” “Speak firmly, not loudly.”
  • The reflection page asks “When is it hardest for you to speak up or share your thoughts?” A choice board task asks students to “Draw two versions of the same moment: one where you stay silent, one where you speak up.”

Grade fit

It works well for quieter students and alongside lessons on peer pressure and boundaries. The set fits Grades 2–8.
