About this resource

A student who calmly says no to a hug and a classmate who listens the first time are practicing the same skill. These respecting boundaries affirmation cards give Grades 2–8 thirty daily messages about personal space, asking first and mutual respect. The set builds Relationship Skills from both sides: keeping your own limits and honoring someone else’s.

What students practice

  • Asking before touching or borrowing
  • Giving others space when they need it
  • Speaking kindly while setting a limit
  • Knowing their body and feelings belong to them

What’s inside

  • 30 affirmation cards on personal space and asking first, 4 per page
  • A one-page list of all 30 messages for planning
  • Reflection sheets in a simpler version for younger students and a deeper one for older students, each in full-page and half-page layouts
  • 30 coloring and DIY poster pages, one per affirmation
  • The teacher guide “Ways to Use This Pack,” with six ideas; 46 pages in all

A look inside

  • “My body and feelings belong to me.”
  • “I can ask before I touch or borrow.”
  • “I can step back when someone needs space.”
  • “I can speak kindly when setting a boundary.”

How to use these respecting boundaries affirmation cards

  • Morning meeting: read one card aloud as a respect-focused start to the day
  • An SEL lesson on communicating personal limits, with a reflection sheet asking how students can show or use the message today
  • The calm corner, with the cards and reflection sheets within reach

Grade fit

Short lines like “I can ask before I touch or borrow.” are easy for second graders to say and remember, while the deeper reflection sheet gives middle schoolers more to think through. That spread makes these positive affirmations for students a fit for Grades 2–8.

Questions teachers ask

Do the cards only cover a student’s own boundaries?

No. They cover both sides: keeping your own limits and respecting other people’s, as in “I can step back when someone needs space.”
