About this resource
Some students miss it when they cross a line; others can’t find the words to name their own. These personal space and boundaries stop think act cards work on both sides, with 20 situations about space, touch and comfort for Grades 2–5. Students use the Stop, Think, Act routine to notice a boundary and answer with respect, and the set builds Relationship Skills.
What students practice
- Recognizing when a boundary is being crossed
- Noticing how each person in a situation might feel
- Thinking about what different responses would communicate
- Saying their own limits clearly and respectfully
- Respecting a limit someone else sets
What’s inside
- 20 Stop Think Act cards in a full-page format, large enough for whole-class discussion or the projector
- The same 20 cards in a 4-per-page format for small groups, partners and learning centers
- 20 matching reflection sheets, one per scenario, each with five open-ended prompts about respecting your own and other people’s boundaries
- 52 pages in all: 30 in the card file and 22 in the reflection sheet file
A look inside
- “A classmate hugs you, but you don’t like hugs. What do you say?”
- “A classmate touches your hair without asking. How do you handle it?”
- “A friend tries to read your text messages over your shoulder. What’s a respectful way to respond?”
How to use these personal space and boundaries stop think act cards
- Morning meeting: project one card and let students pause and think before anyone answers
- An SEL lesson on communicating what you need
- Counseling sessions on personal space and assertiveness
- Role-play practice where partners rehearse asking for space and honoring a no
- Reflection sheets, with prompts like “How can you let someone know when you need space?”
- Reflection sheets as stop and think worksheets, or as think before you act worksheets for independent practice
Grade fit
The situations are everyday ones, from hugs and hair to a friend reading over your shoulder, so they suit Grades 2–5. The five-prompt reflection sheets give older students more to write about how to say a limit kindly.
Digital version
The digital version shares as one link: students answer each card on any device, in the one-question or five-question format you pick, with no student logins. At the end they download an answer sheet to hand in.

Questions teachers ask
Do the cards teach students to set limits or to respect them?
Both. Each situation asks how to respond respectfully, whether the student is the one who needs space or the one who crossed the line.
Can students complete the digital cards without logging in?
Yes. They open your shared link on any device and no student accounts are needed.
