About this resource
A bike rolls over a fresh chalk hopscotch, and Andile’s fists squeeze tight. These anger management reading comprehension passages give Grade 2 readers ten short texts at F&P levels K–M about noticing anger in the body, naming it, and choosing words over shoves. Each one builds Self-Management while your class works on reading.
What students practice
- Spotting body warning signs like a hot face and tight fists
- Naming anger out loud, such as saying “I’m mad!”
- Knowing what tends to set anger off
- Seeing that anger comes in different sizes
- Making things right after an angry moment
What’s inside
- A one-page MCQ answer key at the end of the PDF
A look inside
The Smudged Hopscotch: Andile’s face gets hot, and he shouts “I’m mad!” instead of chasing the bike.
How Animals Say “Back Off!”: hissing cats, growling dogs and a horse with pinned-back ears.
How to use these Grade 2 anger management reading passages
Grade fit
Second graders feel anger in their bodies long before they can explain it, so the early passages stay concrete: a hot face, tight fists, a loud voice. Each of these reading passages with questions runs one page at levels K to M, and the later ones add ideas like anger sizes and anger as a message about something that feels unfair.
Digital version
With the interactive digital version, you share one link and students read each passage and answer the questions on any device, with no student logins. At the end they download an answer sheet to hand in.
